Rex Lumber Company is set up to run custom cellular PVC mouldings just like any other wood profile. These are cut, not extruded, ensuring clean, crisp, and sharp details.
Rex Lumber Company stocks high quality PVC in sheet form. The thicknesses we stock are ¾”, 1”, and 1-1/4”.
Your customers do not have to settle for the generic extruded mouldings, we can run your stock or custom mouldings in PVC.
Custom profiles can be made.
Rex Lumber Company has the ability to laminate PVC to create blanks for handrails and other profiles larger than available thicknesses. Special adhesives are required.
We offer priming with 100% acrylic exterior primer through our vacuum coater, the best finish for cellular PVC is Primed, Buffed, and & Primed. When factory face is cut to make profiles, open cell foam interior is exposed which can give a rough or grainy appearance. While PVC will not rot or decay and is white throughout, dirt will accumulate in the open pores. Priming will help fill in the open pores and reduce the rough appearance as well as help prevent dirt accumulation.
While we do stock PVC sheets, we can also run your PVC stock.
Rex Lumber Company stocks 16’ sheets of moulding grade MDF in thicknesses of 3/4”,.7/8”, and 1-1/8”. We also can procure 3/8”, 1-1/2” and 2” stock for special orders. We use a moulding grade to get a consistent finish throughout the moulding, this material differs from many standard MDFs that have a hard surface and a soft inner layer that mills differently. We can manufacture any moulding profile within the dimensions of the MDF items in inventory. Custom profile knives are made in-house, so we can match any custom or existing profile.
With additional lead time we can obtain different lengths.
No Added Urea Formaldehyde, Water Resistant and FRT MDF options are also available in many cases with additional lead times.
Due to the rough & flakey nature we sell all MDF mouldings as Primed & Buffed, although Primed, Buffed, Primed is recommended.
We have options to provide large quantities and stocking programs at competitive pricing.
Customer stock can be used for many MDF products – We can rip, crosscut, mould, and prime your stock for you.
Rex Lumber Company offers fire retardant coated mouldings that are run from 4/4 Red Oak and 4/4 through 8/4 Poplar.
Our fire retardant treatment is Dricon from Arch Chemicals. Kiln dried lumber is pressure treated to 100% penetration at a licensed pressure treating plant. This is not a surface treatment or coating. Following treatment, Dricon treated wood is re-dried to a moisture content of 6-8%
Dricon fire retardant treated material qualifies as a CLASS A/CLASS 1 fire retardant with flame spread and smoke development rating of 25 or less.
Rex Lumber Company is the only moulding and millwork manufacturer that is authorized by Arch Chemicals (Dricon’s manufacturer) to perform unlimited millwork to Dricon treated red oak and poplar. Our millwork, re-drying procedures and recording practices are routinely audited by an independent third party auditor. We can rip, plane, resaw, glue, and make custom mouldings.
With Rex Lumber Company’s extensive millwork capabilities, we can make virtually any profile, panel, or component. Rex provides a copy of the FRT treatment certificate with the invoice as verification that the products shipped were manufactured properly from that FRT load of material..
For “green” projects, we can provide DRICON Fire retardant treatment to FSC® certified Red Oak and Poplar; making the product both Class A fire rated and LEED compliant
For large projects requiring fire retardant lumber, yields can be improved and waste reduced by pre-selecting and pre-ripping /crosscutting blanks prior to treatment.
In addition to Dricon treated products in Red oak and poplar, we offer primer with fire retardant additives- reaching a Class A rating. Clear fire retardant coatings are also available for other species requiring a Class A fire rating.
Rex Lumber Company has embossing equipment and close to 100 embossing wheels of different shapes and patterns.
Embossed mouldings are mouldings that have a decorative pattern pressed into the moulding in one of more places. The pattern is pressed into the pattern by using a special wheel with the specific pattern in it. Not only is pressure used, but the wheel is also heated, this helps the pattern to be embossed in the wood without tearing the grain. Most species of lumber can be embossed; the softer the wood the easier the process, but even hard species like Hard Maple can be embossed. Mouldings can have single embossed design or multiple embossed designs applied within the profile. Multiple patterns require multiple passes through the embossing machine.
Our stock dentil mouldings can be viewed in our online moulding catalog by checking the Embossed category. If you do not find an embossed moulding to meet your needs, we can design a custom moulding using our stock embossing wheels.
Combinations of dentil and embossed mouldings can be made to achieve a highly ornate moulding.
Stock or custom designed embossed mouldings can be included in a stock moulding program.
Sanding is available prior to embossing.
Priming and finishing options are available.
A dentil moulding is a moulding that has a decorative tooth-like pattern in it. The tooth-like pattern is often accomplished by running an insert that a series of dados are cut into the piece to form the tooth pattern. The insert can then be glued and or nailed in place, and gives the appearance that the moulding is one solid piece.
Rex Lumber Company manufactures stock dentil moulding inserts in both Red Oak and Poplar. Dentil insert size and the size and spacing of dentil teeth may be customized. Species other then Red Oak and Poplar are available as special order.
Rex Lumber Company also has a number of crowns and other mouldings designed to accept various dentil inserts. Custom profiles can also be designed or modified to accept dentil inserts. To see some of our stock dentil mouldings please visit our online moulding catalog and view the Dentil category.
Crowns and other mouldings may be ordered with the dentil inserts installed or they can be shipped as separate parts and installed at a later time
Stock or custom designed dentil mouldings can be included in a stock moulding program.
