Kebony: Factory Finishing for Consistency
Finishing for Kebony Wood isn’t just about appearance, it also plays a role in long-term performance and consistency.
Kebony does not require a finish to maintain its warranty. Even though it will naturally weather to a silver-gray patina over time, factory-applied coatings can be used to help maintain its original color and enhance long-term appearance.
At Rex Lumber, we apply finishing in a controlled environment to improve consistency and long-term performance. This process helps ensure even coating coverage across all material, proper adhesion to freshly milled surfaces, and reliable results from the first piece to the last.
Manufacturer Finishing Systems Application
Rex Lumber can also apply manufacturer-recommended finishing systems, including Cutek Extreme Wood Stabilizer, which is designed specifically for modified wood applications. Learn more about Rex Lumber’s finishing services here.
Cutek Extreme Wood Stabilizer for Kebony is a penetrating oil rather than a surface film, so it will not peel over time. Instead, it penetrates the wood to help reduce splitting, warping, and cupping as the material ages. Cutek also performs well in both freshwater and saltwater environments, making it a strong option for coastal and high-exposure projects.
Cutek Finish Performance Benefits
While Cutek helps stabilize the wood, it does not provide UV protection. Kebony will still naturally weather from its original brown tone to a silver-gray patina over time.
